In September 2020, Captain Okunbo was proudly conferred with a prestigious international award by Forbes, the global media company which focuses on business, investing, technology, entrepreneurship, leadership, and lifestyle. The award which was presented to Captain Okunbo on that beautiful day was the “Forbes BEST OF AFRICA” award, in recognition of his business exploits and initiatives. It was presented by Forbes USA.

"ANTI - HUMAN TRAFFIKING HERO" AWARD
Also in the year 2020, Captain Okunbo was honoured by the Nigerian National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) as its "Anti - Human Trafficking Hero" (in recognition of his outstanding contributions and partnership with the agency to stop the menace of human trafficking).

"ORDER OF LAFAYETTE" AWARD
In 2019, at the United Nations Day for Global Peace, in Geneva, Switzerland, Captain Okunbo was decorated with the “ORDER OF LAFAYETTE” award. This Global Peace award was conferred on Captain Okunbo in recognition of his efforts and initiatives at fostering peace and harmony, as well as his philanthropic and corporate social responsibilities, particularly in the region of the Niger Delta of Nigeria.

In March 2017, in a lavish dinner ceremony that was attended by many, Captain Okunbo was prestigiously named "Vanguard Businessman of the Year” at the "2016 Vanguard Personality of The Year Awards."

HONORARY DOCTORATE
An honorary doctorate degree was conferred on Captain Okunbo in November 2012 by the prestigious University of Benin, for his contributions and benevolence to humanity as well as his achievements as an entrepreneur.
HONOURED BY THE UNIVERSITY OF BENIN ON HIS 60TH BIRTHDAY
On the occasion of his 60th birthday, the University of Benin held an inaugural lecture in Captain Okunbo's honour, titled "Combating the Menace of Human Trafficking" : a topic commonly known to be dear to his heart. The event proffered solutions to the scourge of human trafficking from seasoned academicians, notable panel experts and strategic developmental partners.

"AFRICAN TITAN" AWARD
In 2012, the American Congress honoured Captain Okunbo with the “African Titan” award. This was in recognition of Captain Okunbo's strides on behalf of Africa in the international arena as well as being a voice for the Niger Delta people of Nigeria through his movie: “Black November”.
JUSTICE OF THE PEACE (JP)
In 2007, Captain Idahosa Okunbo was honoured with the "Justice Of The Peace" (JP), in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the promotion of peace and good governance and the development of his constituency.
